Abstract

Praca doktorska nosi tytuł "Model chrześcijanina według Lucyfera z Cagliari" i została napisana przez ks. Piotra Wilka pod kierunkiem promotora - ks. prof. dr. hab. Marcina Wysockiego. Dysertacja składa się ze wstępu, trzech rozdziałów, zakończenia i bibliografii. Praca przede wszystkim opisuje zawarty w pismach Lucyfera z Cagliari model męczennika za ortodoksję. Wstęp zawiera informacje na temat życia i działalności Lucyfera z Cagliari, źródeł wiedzy o jego osobie oraz studiów jemu poświęconych. Przedstawiono w nim także problem badawczy, materiał źródłowy oraz metodę prowadzenia badań w niniejszej pracy doktorskiej. W rozdziale pierwszym przedstawiono, jaki model chrześcijanina prezentowali pisarze, z których dzieł Lucyfer z Cagliari korzystał, a mianowicie Tertulian, Cyprian, Nowacjan i Laktancjusz. Wskazano również na orzeczenia synodów, do których nawiązywał nasz Autor, m.in. Nicea (325), Antiochia (341), Sardyka (343), Sirmium (351), Mediolan (355), W rozdziale drugim na podstawie analizy dzieł Lucyfera z Cagliari ustalono, że modelowy chrześcijanin to przede wszystkim osoba, która broni prawdziwej wiary oraz jest gotowa za nią oddać życie, czyli jest męczennikiem za ortodoksję. Aby wyraźnie ukazać wyjątkowość tego rodzaju męczeństwa, to, że jego powodem jest ortodoksja, opisano w rozdziale drugim powody prześladowań, w tym główną ich przyczynę - credo z Nicei, oraz scharakteryzowano prześladowcę i prześladowanego. Pokazano, że zdaniem Lucyfera powody prześladowań są na wskroś dogmatyczne, tzn. wynikają one z pobłądzenia w wierze i popadniecie w herezję. W rozdziale trzecim na podstawie dzieł Kalarytańczyka przedstawiono te cechy chrześcijanina, które go charakteryzują, ale nie są one wyrażone w tonie nakazu lub powinności, lecz w formie opisu. Wyodrębniono i opisano cztery kwestie: jakie znaczenie ma Biblia dla chrześcijanina, w jaki sposób odnosi się on do władzy doczesnej, jak chrześcijanin realizuje model postępowania jako biskup lub po prostu jako wyznawca Chrystusa. Zakończenie zawiera wnioski, które płyną z przeprowadzonych badań, i odpowiedzi na postawione pytania badawcze. Przedstawiono również perspektywy dalszych badań.

This doctoral dissertation is titled The Model of a Christian According to Lucifer of Cagliari and was written by Rev. Piotr Wilk, under the direction of Rev. Prof. Dr Habil. Marcin Wysocki. The work consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusions and a bibliography. It focuses on the model of a martyr for the orthodox faith found in the writings of Lucifer of Cagliari. The introduction presents the life and work of Lucifer of Cagliari, the available sources and studies dedicated to him. This section also states the research problem, source material and the method used throughout the dissertation. Chapter 1 looks at the model of a Christian espoused by the writers that Lucifer of Cagliari drew from, namely Tertullian, Cyprian, Novatian, and Lactantius. Reference was also made to decisions that Lucifer drew on, formulated by the synods of Nicea (325), Antioch (341), Serdica (343), Sirmium (351), Milan (355). Chapter 2 analyses the works of Lucifer of Cagliari to determine that the exemplary Christian is, first and foremost, one who defends the true faith, being ready to give his life for it - in other words, he is a martyr for orthodoxy. In order to demonstrate the uniqueness of this kind of martyrdom, that it follows from orthodoxy, the author mentions here the reasons for religious persecution, including its principal cause - the Nicene Creed - and characterises the oppressor and the victim. It is shown that according to Lucifer the justification of persecution is utterly dogmatic as resulting from erring in faith and falling into heresy. Chapter 3, based on Lucifer's works, presents the qualities that make a Christian but are not formulated as an imperative or a obligation; instead, they are descriptive. Four questions are identified and described: What meaning does the Bible carry for a Christian? How does the Christian see worldly authority? How does the Christian follow the model of conduct as a bishop or simply as a follower of Christ? The final section offers conclusions that the presented research implies and provides answers to the research questions stated at the outset. Prospects for further research are also indicated.
