Nadzieje i nadzieja. O chrześcijańskiej postawie wobec przyszłości

Abstract

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie kluczowych elementów chrześcijańskiej nadziei na tle „wielkich nadziei”, obecnych we współczesnych nurtach kulturowych i debacie publicznej. Są to zazwyczaj koncepcje związane z oczekiwaniem nowego człowieka, nowego społeczeństwa i nowego świata, będących efektem wysiłku ludzkości i ograniczonych do perspektywy wewnątrzhistorycznej. W odróżnieniu od tego Ewangelia Chrystusa proponuje nadzieję przekraczającą tę doczesną perspektywę. Jej centrum jest Osoba Jezusa Chrystusa, zmartwychwstałego i żyjącego, a więc także obecnego we wszystkich zmaganiach pojedynczych ludzi i ludzkich społeczeństw. Ta nadzieja obejmuje oczekiwanie indywidualnego i społecznego zbawienia i dlatego jest także źródłem chrześcijańskiego zaangażowania w budowę lepszego świata.

The aim of this article is to show the key elements of Christian hope againstthe background of the ‘great hopes’ present in contemporary cultural currents and public debates. These are usually concepts related to the expectation of a new man, a new society and a new world, which are the result of the efforts of mankind and limited to an intra-historical perspective. In contrast, the Gospel of Christ proposes a hope that goes beyond this temporal perspective. Its centre is the Person of Jesus Christ, risen and alive, and therefore also present in all the strugglesof individual human beings and human societies. This hope embraces the expectation of individual and social salvation and is therefore also the source of Christian commitment to building a better world.
